University of Colorado-Denver College of Arts & Media, at the King Center on the Auraria campus, 855 Lawrence Way, presents: Denver Silent Film Festival, a three-day celebration of films, Fri.-Sun., Sept. 21-23, from the silent era (1895-1929), featuring restored classics and new student films, presentations by restoration experts and celebrities, and an Opening Night Gala at the DCPA honoring French film archivist Serge Bromberg with a Lifetime Achievement Award, with live piano accompaniment by Hank Troy.
     Films include: Sept. 21, post-gala at 8p.m., Wings (romance, 1927) accompanied by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.
     Sept. 22, 4p.m., The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (horror, 1918), accompanied by Donald Sosin, Joanna Seaton and the UCD Film Orchestra (students) preceded by Rhythmus 21 (abstract, 1921) & 7p.m., Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life (documentary, 1926), accompanied by Hank Troy, preceded by A Trip to the Moon (science fiction/fantasy, 1902) – an early classic restored by Serge Bromberg.
