S. Pearl St. Pet Adoption Fair, Sept. 16
Find your family’s new best friend at S. Pearl Street’s annual Pet Adoption Fair, one of Denver’s largest pet adoption events, Sun., Sept. 16, 9a.m.-1p.m., sponsored by The Whole Cat & Dogs, Too (1540 S. Pearl St.) and Stella & Chewy’s pet foods.

The event will coincide with South Pearl’s lively weekly Farmers Market, which will run concurrently.

This year’s fair will be bigger than ever, with dozens of breeds of dogs, cats and other small animals filling the 1400 and 1500 blocks of South Pearl St., with many available for on-the-spot adoptions. If your pet is in need of some instant gratification, Stella & Chewy’s will make their presence known passing out free samples for hungry hounds and felines.

Whether you’re a prospective pet owner or simply a window-shopping animal lover, you will find plenty of information and advice to help you decide which breed might be right for your family’s lifestyle.

Among this year’s participating exhibitors are: Best Pets, Big Dogs Huge Paws, Hobo Care Boxer Rescue, Breeder Release Adoption Service, Colorado House Rabbit Society, Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue, A Soft Place to Land, English Springer Rescue, Rocky Mountain Yorkie Rescue, Evergreen Animal Protection League, Colorado Animal Welfare League, Good Samaritan Pet Center, Shiba Scout Rescue, Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue, Forgotten Felines, Front Range German Shepherd Rescue, DMK Rehoming, Colorado Beagle Rescue and Life is Better Rescue. More are expected to join in the fun by event day.

There is no better time to adopt a pet, as animal welfare organizations are cash-strapped due to the ongoing recession, and funding for critical services is lacking.

So pack up the family and make a day of it on South Pearl Street. Grab some fresh produce and other fine specialty foods at the S. Pearl St. Farmers Market, and get your animal fix nourished with love from the legions of furry creatures that will be on hand vying for your attention.
