Lincoln’s 5th Graders Take Top Honors At Project Citizen Showcase May 10

Triumphing among 14 schools who sent 100 5th-8th Grade students to the annual competition at the State Capitol, Lincoln Elementary’s team took up the Project Citizen challenge.

The challenge was to identify a public policy concern and develop a solution through conducting historical research, data collection and expert interviews. Lincoln’s team (the school’s at 710 S. Pennsylvania St.) was recognized for their creative approach, on how educators, often under district or state mandates, assign homework to students without regard to the individual student’s current level of comprehension and learning. Team members included Lillian Beckman, Caeliegh Cole, Dejaune Ellerbee, Sydney Morgan, Caleb Pan, Gabriela Pasillas, Aidan Rattray and Carsyn Tilp, and were led by their teacher, Ms. Tiffany Berry.
