Want a true taste of the finest seasonal fruits and veggies, plus THE friendliest customer service?

Stop by Wilkerson’s Produce Co., 1995 S. Santa Fe Dr. and wish Micki and Curtis Wilkerson a happy 50th anniversary! Wilkerson’s has been peddling the finest farm-fresh produce in the same space since 1962, when Micki and husband Bud first opened the family market. In fact, Wilkerson’s began its focus on local produce and supporting local farmers and economies decades before “locavores” ever dreamed of the idea.

If you’ve never visited Wilkerson’s, you’ll find them open every day, tucked away just behind the retaining fence on Santa Fe’s west side, south of Overland Golf Course between Jewell and Evans. As the season ripens, expect ever-more variety, and quality you’ll simply find NOWHERE else. Call for easy directions/hours: 303-744-8419.

Space Gallery, 765 Santa Fe Dr., will mark 11 years in business on July 13 with a retrospective exhibition highlighting many of the artists who have shown at the gallery over its decade-plus history.

Opening in April 2001 in Lodo, just blocks from Coors Field, Space Gallery established a fast following showcasing emerging local talents as well as nationally recognized artists. After only two years, and feeling the need to expand, Space Gallery moved south to Santa Fe Dr. and became a foundational force behind creation of the Art District on Santa Fe, now recognized as one of Denver’s premier arts corridors.

To mark this milestone owner Michael Burnett has provided each artist with a 12-inch-by-12-inch panel on which to create a new piece for this celebratory event. The pieces will hang in a continuous line throughout the gallery, representing the gallery’s history to date.

The non-profit Beanstalk Foundation recently marked the one-year anniversary of their collaboration with Access Gallery, 909 Santa Fe Dr., whose mission is to educate and promote differently-abled artists. Through this alliance, funds have been raised to provide needed materials for the Access artists.

“Damon McLeese (gallery director) does such amazing work at Access,” said Beanstalk Foundation executive director Margaret Casart. “It’s not your average art gallery. It’s empowering as well as expressive. And Damon’s an incredible neighborhood leader.”

Access Gallery is one of 17 grassroots projects hosted at beanstalkfoundation.com, the organization’s web-based crowdfunding platform. For information about Access Gallery, call 303-777-0797 or visit accessgallery.org.
