Maedée Duprès: Harmony/Movement In The Art Of Living | Print |  E-mail

Dance spaces are usually renovated,” reflects Maedée Duprès, owner of A Living Arts Centre, just across the river from Grant-Frontier Park at 2231 S. Platte River Dr. “There are pillars in the middle or the ceilings are too low. It’s very rare that the building is constructed (specifically) for dance.”

     Built from the ground up and opened in 2007 to house a community of like-minded teachers and practitioners dedicated to movement, wellness, healing, and the arts, the airy structure features high ceilings, skylights, and two large dance studios. “Both studio floors are sprung,” Duprès says. “That means they’re floating floors so they’re kind to joints. Our acupuncturist is also an artist, so she uses the front entrance area to exhibit her work, and there’s stained glass in the front doorway that gives you the sense of art right as you enter.”
